Abstract

Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup comes with both outstanding possibilities and challenges such as infrastructural development, image enhancement, climate, transport, parking and so on. This project intends to focus on the parking challenges that need to be addressed for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Therefore, this project aims at developing a prototype mobile application that will assist the visitors of Qatar FIFA 2022 matches to park their vehicles when they go to the stadiums. This project provides one of the key solutions for the Qatar government. There will be an increase in the use of automobiles during FIFA 2022 , and it will be necessary to organise the available parking spaces properly. The user does not have enough information regarding vacant parking spaces; therefore, having a mobile application in vehicle parking will help resolve this problem and will help save cost and time for the user. Furthermore, it will help ease traffic jams that might ordinarily have arisen from people searching for free parking spaces. The use of the mobile application will help make the system more flexible since it is possible for anyone to access and use such an application, regardless of his or her location. Information regarding the world’s geology is easily accessible as a result of the emergence of technological geographic information systems. Therefore, the use of mobile applications can help provide information that would be used to develop a parking management system using a huge database of maps, since virtually everyone uses an Internet-enabled smartphone these days. This project implements the parking assistant mobile application using Android studio because the use of Android operating systems are far more than other operating systems such as iOS, blackberry and so on. The agile development methodology is used in this project.
