The purpose of this case study is to explore Qatari women's experiences of opportunities and challenges in the field of cybersecurity as related to the overlap between gender, society's expectations, and their career path in a fast-evolving digital Arab world. Even though Qatar is on the verge of cybersecurity, which is much needed for national security and economic stability, it is important to explore Qatari women's experiences in such an ongoing advancing field. By employing interviews with Qatari women cybersecurity professionals as a part of the qualitative research undertaken in this paper, we investigate gender norm barriers, institutional support and development, and cultural perceptions as major inquiries for participants to explore the women’s experiences in a field that is globally perceived to be male-dominated. In addition, the case study examines the chance of overcoming these obstacles by applying solutions like awareness campaigns, educational programs, and support measures that aim to develop diversity and inclusion among the cybersecurity workforces. The research has proved that although women are encouraged as Qatari nationals to take up careers in cybersecurity, they may continue to encounter a lack of communication and stereotypical biases. However, the women who participated in this case study showed high optimism towards women's support and encouragement of advancement. This thesis advances the mainstream gap of women's involvement in STEM occupations by discussing the local context of Qatar and the Gulf region and suggesting policies, educational programs, and organizational strategies to create a more equal cybersecurity environment.
