Abstract

Abstract_x000D_ This research emphasizes the role that Islamic microfinance can play in ‎achieving and fulfilling the targets of socio-economic development in developing ‎countries with particular reference to of the Republic of Chad. One of the major ‎manifestations of economic and social underdevelopment in Chad, as in other ‎developing countries, is the lack of financial resources, the low level of technology, ‎and the lack of skilled human resources which are necessary to bring about real ‎development.‎_x000D_ One of the main objectives of microfinance institutions is to support the SMEs ‎by trying to provide sufficient finance to them. Islamic microfinance has increased ‎progressively in the world, particularly in poor Muslim countries, as a trustworthy ‎alternative, which lets poor populations have access to basic financial services to ‎compete its peer counter. The thesis provides some recommendations to policymakers, Islamic Microfinance institutions, entrepreneurs, and SME managers to ‎decide the appropriate strategy to improve the SME sector in Chad.‎_x000D_ Keywords: SMEs, microfinance institution, Islamic microfinance, socio-economic ‎development, Chad.‎
