Sleep is a fundamental determinant of health, and abnormal sleep duration is associated with increased risk of complex diseases. However, most genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of sleep traits have focused on European populations, leaving Middle Eastern populations underrepresented. We conducted GWAS of sleep traits in the Qatar Genome Program and Qatar Biobank (n ≈ 14,000).
