This research investigates implementing a project-based learning (PBL) approach in interlingual subtitling during an internship offered by the Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation (MAAT) program at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar. It provides a thorough description of the overall workflow of the project with the Learn Autism platform, in addition to its dynamics, and it focuses on illustrating the challenges that the interns faced throughout the project and the solutions they devised to overcome these challenges. Thus, it is a descriptive piece of work. To achieve this objective, I outline the details and progress of the project from my perspective, since I experienced and witnessed this learning process personally. To do so, I utilize the documents and references that were made available during the course, including the work outline, glossaries and autism guides. The findings provide a detailed description of the project’s dynamics and workflow including the weekly meetings, distribution of work, and the interns’ tasks. In addition, the results show that the interns faced challenges on the linguistic and technical levels, with the latter imposing more demanding challenges on them.
