Abstract

ABSTRACT There is no doubt that work is one of the values encouraged by Islam. With the passage of time and the evolution of social contexts, the impact and dimensions of work have changed compared to the past. This period has witnessed a noticeable increase in the participation of individuals in the workforce, both male and female. However, the changes have been more pronounced in the field of women’s work, where women have emerged more prominently in various fields. The aim of this research is to highlight the importance of women's work in general, and its role in Qatari society in particular, with a focus on the contemporary careers that have emerged in women employment in Qatar and their legal status from a Jurisprudential and Qatari Law perspective. With regard to the jurisprudential aspects, the study extensively examines the views of Hanbali scholars, discussing various issues related to the rulings on work and its legal guidelines, as well as presenting practical examples from the work of the female companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him). From a legal perspective, the research focuses on reviewing the role of Qatari law in regulating work, offering a comprehensive definition of Qatari law and its application in practice. To answer the research questions, the comparative descriptive method was employed, allowing for the examination of the Hanbali school’s views on one hand, and Qatari law on the other, with the aim of identifying the similarities and differences between them in light of contemporary developments.
