Abstract
Transnational yearnings provides remarkable insights into transnational migration and generates exciting questions about diasporic context. Through the discussion of Caribbean transnationalism, particularly the interconnection between Toronto and Jamaica, the book explores the transnational desires and asymmetrical power relations that inform transnational migration and the diasporization of urban spaces. It also outlines the crucial potential of the “diasporic city” as a notion that highlights how the public sphere of cities are claimed, transformed, and effectively conceived by residents with Caribbean and transnational identities and affiliations.
