Transforming Global Charitable Programs with Artificial Intelligence: A Comprehensive Study on Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Impact

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in charitable programs presents a transformative opportunity to enhance operational efficiency, improve resource allocation, and deliver personalized interventions to vulnerable populations worldwide. This research aims to address the significant gaps in program delivery, resource allocation, and impact assessment prevalent across various sectors such as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), disaster response, education, public health, and food distribution. The proposed study explores AI-driven solutions to tackle these inefficiencies, enabling global charity programs to optimize their operations and achieve sustainable outcomes. Additionally, the research aims to develop a Digital Safety Initiative to protect children and youth from online risks by establishing a regulatory framework and improving digital literacy. The methodology involves a multi-phase approach, beginning with extensive data collection from various sectors. Data on natural disasters, education, public health, supply chains, and economic opportunities will be gathered and analyzed to train AI models capable of providing predictive insights and improving decision-making. Specific datasets, such as historical weather patterns, educational performance, and supply chain logistics, will be used to build and optimize predictive models for targeted interventions. In addition, AI algorithms will be tested in controlled environments through pilot studies to evaluate their real-world applicability and scalability. Key techniques such as data preprocessing, algorithm selection, model training, and continuous monitoring will be applied to ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability of the AI-driven solutions. The expected outcomes of this research are multi-faceted. AI-powered predictive models for natural disasters will allow for faster and more efficient emergency responses, while AI-driven educational platforms will enable personalized learning experiences tailored to children’s needs, thus improving educational outcomes. In public health, AI systems will enhance real-time monitoring and disease prediction, enabling early interventions and better health management. Furthermore, AI optimization of supply chains will reduce waste and ensure the timely delivery of food and essential items to those in need. The establishment of a comprehensive digital safety framework will mitigate online risks for children and youth, ensuring a safe and secure digital environment. This research holds the potential to revolutionize the charitable sector, providing data-driven, scalable, and sustainable solutions that can significantly improve humanitarian efforts. By leveraging AI, this project will not only address existing inefficiencies but also open new avenues for personalized interventions, ultimately enhancing the overall effectiveness and impact of global charitable initiatives.
