The relationship between walking speed and lower limb kinematics in typically developing children across age groups in the MENA region

Research output: Contribution to journalMeeting Abstractpeer-review

Abstract

Walking speed significantly influences lower limb kinematics is a key determinant of kinematic changes in typically developing children’s (TDC) walking gait (Stansfield et al., 2001). While many studies have investigated the relationship between walking speed and lower limb kinematics during walking gait, there remains room for improvement. For example, previous studies often combined wide age ranges into a single group or focused on only one plane of motion (Fukuchi et al., 2019; Schwartz et al., 2008). In addition, the influence of age on this relationship during walking has not yet been investigated specifically among children under 14 years of age. This is especially relevant in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where TDC-specific gait datasets remain limited.
