Abstract

This chapter explains the appropriateness of the transnational governance concept for transnational administration. This explanation is followed by brief discussions of ten attributes of transnational administration. The first three are the concepts of methodological transnationalism and transfigured administrative sovereignty in the context of the explosion in the number and diversity of transnational actors. The next three focus on transgovernmental administration and hybrid and private transnational administration. This is followed by discussions of legitimacy and accountability, multiscalarity and the transmission of authority, the employees of transnational actors, and ends with citizenship engagement with transnational administration.
