Abstract

Bimetallic di- and triorganotin(IV) germanium carboxylates were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, as well as IR, multinuclear NMR ( 1H, 13C, 119Sn) spectroscopy and tested for bioactivity. The structure of the representative compound, [Ph 3GeCH(n-C3H7)CH2CO 2]Sn[CH 3]3, was determined by X-ray analysis and found to have a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom. Some selected compounds were also screened against different microbes and showed promising antibacterial and antifungal activity.
