Abstract

Collaborative techniques for real-time video streaming of scalable video coded (SVC) videos over vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communications are investigated. In the studied methods, roadside units (RSUs) communicate with moving vehicles using IEEE 802.11p, whereas the long term evolution (LTE) system is used to communicate with the vehicles through cellular base stations. Techniques for video transmission by RSUs only, LTE only, or jointly by both LTE and RSUs are presented and compared, and the joint collaborative technique is shown to lead to the best results.
