Abstract

The phenomenon of slums is one of the most dangerous social phenomena and the biggest obstacle to social balance and urban development. This is due to the multiplicity of its negative effects that require study and analysis. Therefore, this research aimed to study the causes of the emergence of the phenomenon, its characteristics and effects, and to present suggestions for its eradication. The study also presented some of the best international experiences in handling the phenomenon with an evaluation of these experiences based on the descriptive approach.
