Abstract

This paper presents and describes an intelligent predictive technique for utilizing reactive power from PV in a distribution network that has several PV sources connected to a low voltage (LV) bus. The technique employs an artificial neural network (ANN) as part of an intelligent management tool that can be used to manage PV sources in a distribution network. The effectiveness of the method is assessed, and the result is very promising. The intelligent predictive technique presented in this paper is suitable to be integrated into an active distribution network management scheme of the distribution network that utilizes a phasor measurement unit (PMU) for monitoring.
