Abstract
The article has investigated the process of phenol destruction in water by photocatalytic oxidation catalyzed by cerium hydroperoxide (Ce(OH) 3OOH). We have studied the impact of catalyst amount, oxidant (H 2O2,O2), time of ultraviolet radiation on the activity of the given process. It is shown that the local concentration of dissolved O2 plays a decisive role in oxidizing destruction of phenol in water systems containing a heterogeneous catalyst. We have proposed a likely mechanism of phenol photodestruction in the presence of Ce(OH)3OOH.
