Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In this chapter, special attention is paid to the law people along with their roles, such as solicitors, barristers, judges, witnesses, jury, lawyer for defence, lawyer for prosecution, prosecutor, etc. They are discussed in a direct link to Arabic-English translation. Further, the types of courts, such as court of first instance, court of appeal, family court, magistrate court, criminal court, court of cassation, and the like are touched on in this chapter. The chapter also starts with a ‘warming up section’ that provides the reader with a list of useful links that lead them to certain videos selected by the author carefully to help them understand the concept under discussion. After that, a bilingual text (translated either from or into English) is used to help students be familiar with the technical terms used in this area in both languages followed by a variety of tasks, such as ‘listen to translate’, ‘evaluate the translated text’ by focusing on certain issues, such as accuracy and acceptability, ‘evaluate the machine translation’, ‘complete the translation’, ‘translate with some notes’, etc.
