Abstract

Network slicing enables logically isolated virtual networks but introduces new challenges for Lawful Interception (LI) in dynamic multi-slice 5 G environments. This work presents an open-source LI demo implemented over a softwarized 5G platform with real over-The-Air transmissions. The system integrates Software Defined Radio (SDR)-based radio access, a virtualized 5G Core Network, and a distributed LI domain, enabling multi-cell, multi-user, and multi-slice operation. Selective per-slice interception is achieved through distributed Point of Interception (POI), allowing targeted monitoring while preserving the isolation of non-Targeted traffic. The framework supports VoIP interception with ETSI-compliant Interception Related Information (IRI) and Communication Content (CC) delivery, and incorporates an application-layer key escrow mechanism to enable lawful access to encrypted communications. The obtained results demonstrate the feasibility of scalable and isolated LI in realistic softwarized 5 G environments.
