Abstract

The impurity distribution of either Nb and Er ions, during a Li diffusion process, has been studied in the as-grown Er-doped periodic poled lithium niobate structures. It has been observed that there is a periodic variation of the Nb concentration along the periodic domain structure for the as-grown crystals. The Nb variation in the as-grown crystal is modified when the samples are submitted to a vapor transport equilibration process, which is related with Li diffusion. The Er concentration is constant along the domain structure.
