Abstract

This paper addresses solitons in liquid crystals that are often referred to as nematicons. Exact 1-soliton solutions are obtained for nematicons with Kerr, power, parabolic and dual-power law nonlinearities. Conservation laws are derived for the model. Both conserved densities and conserved quantities are all listed. The constraint conditions are in place for the existence of nematicons.
