Abstract

The paper in this volume provide a snapshot of emerging postgraduate work on Muslims in the UK and Europe. They are expanded versions of papers presented at the University of Cambridge Centre of Islamic Studies’ second Annual Postgraduate Symposium held on 29-31 May 2015. The Centre of Islamic Studies annual symposium aims to bring together work in this expanding field and to provide a forum for critical discussion and reflection. Two scholars of Muslim societies and Islam, Professor Magnus Marsden of the University of Sussex and Dr Jeremy Henzell-Thomas of the Centre of Islamic Studies, acted as mentors and commentators, presenting keynote speeches and concluding reflections, which are reproduced here.
