Abstract

This chapter documents the experiences of three instructors at an international branch campus in Qatar, where they taught an introductory course in technical writing to engineering students over the course of several years. We explain the process of integrating UX design in the form of a design challenge, meant to prepare engineering students for the initial phases of their capstone project and for their professional careers as engineers. We also reflect on the affordances and adaptations we made to the course for the benefit of stakeholders, including our methods for addressing diverse cultural norms and dynamics.
