Mediation Ethics after the Singapore Convention

Abstract

On August 7, 2019, representatives from 46 countries convened in Singapore to sign the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, also known as the Singapore Convention on Mediation (“Convention” or “Singapore Convention”). Signatories included China, India, the United States, and several other leading global economies that also account for over half the world’s population.¹ As of this writing 53 countries are signatories and 6 counties have become parties (Belarus, Ecuador, Fiji, Qatar, Saudi Arabi, and Singapore).² The Convention entered into force on September 12, 2020.
