Abstract
This research examines the integration of the Conservation and Energy Efficiency "Tarsheed"code with global and local green codes such as LEED, GSAS, ASHRAE, and BREEAM. The central hypothesis suggests that the sustainability gaps of Tarsheed bridges in Qatar are not fully addressed by these standards. Incorporating Tarsheed can lead to additional energy savings and cost reductions, supporting enhanced sustainability. The methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of building types across governmental, residential, commercial, and industrial sectors using a sample building. Data on energy consumption and costs before and after the implementation of Tarsheed were analyzed. A comparative approach is used to assess the environmental and economic performance of buildings against the LEED, GSAS, ASHRAE, and BREEAM standards. In 2023, Tarsheed saved 548.3 GWh of electricity, 35.84 Mm3 of water, and reduced 638,275 tonnes of CO2 emissions in Qatar. Several case studies demonstrate Tarsheed's contribution to reducing environmental impact, highlighting areas where it fills critical gaps in energy Efficiency and sustainability. Preliminary findings indicate that Tarsheed complements and enhances other green codes, leading to notable improvements in electricity and water conservation, emission reduction, and cost Efficiency. This illustrates Tarsheed's role in bridging the sustainability gaps and enhancing building energy Efficiency in Qatar.
