Abstract

The polarization of a Pb(Zr0.6Ti0.4)O3 capacitor was measured before and after fatigue using both a Sawyer-Tower circuit and the RT-66A Ferroelectric Test Unit. Discrepancies were observed in various polarization measurements performed after fatigue. This disparity may be explained by considering the effect a change in the electrical resistance of the capacitor after fatigue has on the polarization measurements. This explanation was established by observing the effect a shunt resistor placed in parallel with the sample capacitor has on the various polarization measurements.
