Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In this chapter, special attention is paid to contracts and their language. In addition to this, issues such as the element of contracts, such as ‘offer’, ‘acceptance’, ‘legal capacity’, ‘object of the contract’, ‘consideration’, ‘unilateral contract’, ‘unjust enrichment’, ‘injury-producing action’, ‘tortious liability’, and ‘power of attorney’ are discussed in detail in this chapter with a direct link to Arabic-English translation. This chapter also starts with a ‘warming up section’ that provides the reader with a list of useful links that lead them to certain videos selected by the author carefully to help them understand the concepts under discussion. After that, a bilingual text (translated either from or into English) is used to help students be familiar with the technical terms used in this area in both languages followed by a variety of tasks, such as ‘listen to translate’, ‘evaluate the translated text’ by focusing on certain issues, such as accuracy and acceptability, ‘evaluate the machine translation’, ‘complete the translation’, ‘translate with some notes’, etc.
