Caste-Based Discrimination in International Human Rights Law

Th is is one of the few legal monographs that can lay claim to two achievements;
firstly, its research is impeccable and secondly, it can be read by lawyers and non-
lawyers alike in the same manner as one would read a book of literature. The
author has achieved all this without compromising his legal and anthropological
research and without toning down his literary style. This result is even more
remarkable, if one takes into consideration that this monograph represents the
author’s doctoral thesis at Galway, as doctoral theses are usually rigid in their liter-
ary approach and not generally susceptible to enjoyable, as opposed to scientifi-
cally challenging, reading.
