Blockchain-Based Demand-Side Management: A Novel Approach and Experimental Analysis

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

Demand-side management (DSM) is crucial for optimizing energy consumption in smart grids by ensuring efficient load balancing between consumers and producers. Recent advancements in blockchain technology have provided new opportunities to enhance DSM by enabling decentralized and transparent energy management. This paper proposes a novel blockchain-based DSM approach, which leverages smart contracts to automate real-time load adjustments, energy pricing, and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading. The proposed methodology is evaluated through simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing peak demand and improving energy utilization in a decentralized system.
