N2 - —Amid growing concerns over climate change and the need for decentralized energy solutions, innovative models of energy exchange are emerging worldwide. Community-based peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading projects are rapidly gaining traction as transformative solutions in the evolving energy landscape, particularly across Asia, where countries exhibit diverse socio-economic contexts and abundant renewable energy resources. This paper delves into the distinctive perspectives of Asian communities by examining cultural, economic, technological, and policy-related factors that shape P2P energy trading practices. Through a comprehensive review of current projects and frameworks, it identifies both the challenges and the opportunities these initiatives present in promoting sustainable and equitable energy access. By analyzing the implementation strategies, operational barriers, and measurable impacts of such projects, the paper offers valuable insights for industry professionals and researchers. Further, it aims to enhance understanding of the similarities and differences in P2P trading frameworks across various Asian nations, supporting more informed energy transition strategies.
