Abstract
This chapter addresses some of the Shariah issues related to the applications of artificial intelligence (AI), which has entered an advanced stage after it has received wide acceptance and become more complex, with special focus on financial applications. The chapter starts with introductions clarifying the concept of AI and explaining its levels and challenges. The chapter treats the issues of discussion from both Fiqh and Maqasid perspectives, that is, from a Shariah macroeconomic preservice that considers the implications and the overall benefits or harms of these applications. However, the Fiqh issues and the Maqasid considerations do not stop at what this chapter presents as there are more issues that need to be addressed, especially with the unceasing development and update of these applications, which requires continuous follow-up to evaluate and assess the new application from Shariah perspective.
