Islamic Social Finance: A Solution for Migrant Workers in Qatar

Project: Applied Research

Project Details

Abstract

This research proposal examines the potential role of Islamic Social Finance in addressing the challenges faced by migrant workers in Qatar. Following the 2022 FIFA World Cup and amid ongoing scrutiny of workers' rights, the study aims to investigate how charitable organizations like Qatar Charity utilize Islamic financial instruments such as Zakat, Sadaqah Jaria, and Waqf funds to support low-income foreign workers. Using qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews with migrant workers and Islamic charitable foundations, the study will analyze the effectiveness of these financial tools in promoting social welfare. The expected outcomes include analyzing the current impact of Islamic charitable funds, suggesting implementation frameworks, and providing policy recommendations to improve support systems. This research contributes to broader discussions on ethical financial solutions in socio-economic contexts.
