Islamic Media Ethics in the Digital Age: AI-Powered Solutions for Combating Misinformation and Promoting Constructive Cross-Cultural Dialogue

Project: Applied Research

Project Details

Abstract

This interdisciplinary project tackles misinformation, algorithmic bias, and digital polarization using Islamic media ethics integrated with AI/NLP technologies, developing culturally-sensitive solutions beyond techno-solutionist models. The methodology operationalizes Islamic ethics through: curating classical sources into AI training datasets, human oversight refinement, and distilling core values (truthfulness, fairness, dignity, restraint) for practical application. Key deliverables include an AI-powered Islamic fact-checking system leveraging QCRI's Arabic NLP expertise, trained on authentic sources and intercultural frameworks to counter misinformation while respecting religious diversity. A digital literacy campaign integrates Islamic values with AI-enhanced educational tools to strengthen media literacy across communities.
