Abstract

This project introduces TIIPGuide, a privacy-preserving, AI-augmented intervention supporting Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP) in treating scrupulosity, a religious form of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Scrupulosity manifests as intrusive faith-related doubts, excessive fear of transgressions, and compulsive rituals—such as repeated purification, obsessive prayer—along with a persistent guilt over perceived sins. Untreated scrupulosity causes distress, leads to social isolation, and disrupts religious practice, with patients often avoiding clinical treatment instead seeking guidance from non-clinical scholars. TIIP Guide integrates responsible AI with established therapeutic frameworks to enhance, rather than replace, human interaction, ensuring cultural authenticity, clinical efficacy, and ethical oversight. It is rooted in Islamic psychology’s multiplex ontology, integrating body, mind, and soul within the classical islamic tradition of spiritual and physical well-being.The proposed TIIPGuide ecosystem comprises:
