Integrated Aerial-Ground Intelligent Sensing and AI Platform for Resource-Efficient and Sustainable Agriculture in Qatar’s Arid Climate

Project: Applied Research

Project Details

Abstract

This project targets HBKU’s Signature Research Area of Sustainable and Resilient Arid Cities by advancing agricultural sustainability through integrated technological innovation. Qatar’s hyper-arid environment makes food production resource-intensive and vulnerable to climate variability. This proposal addresses these challenges by developing an innovative Air and Ground Sensing Platform for Smart Greenhouses, combining robotics, printed sensor technologies, and AI-based control systems, as schematically described in Figure 1. The proposed Air and Ground Sensing Platform aims to optimize greenhouse operations by enabling precise, sensor-driven microclimate control using AI.
