Ibn Khaldun on Education: Insights for Contemporary Theories and Practices

Project: Applied Research

Project Details

Abstract

This project aims to examine and expand upon the foundational principles of educational theory through the lens of Ibn Khaldun's philosophy. By centering on Khaldun's unique perspective, it investigates his multiplex approach to education and compares it to other contemporary philosophies. The research will explore how Khaldunian concepts like "malaka" can inform modern educational discourse, and delve into his epistemology, learning theory, and the role of education in civilizational sustainability. The goal is to produce a book that presents an Islamically grounded educational theory, addressing a gap in literature and contributing to the decolonization of educational curricula through culturally sensitive frameworks.
