Assessing Climate Variability and Change in Qatar: Projections of regional risks and feasibility of urban-scale adaptation solutions

Project: Applied Research

Project Details

Abstract

This project focuses on understanding and addressing the impacts of climate change in Qatar and the Arabian Peninsula. It combines climate data analysis, high-resolution regional modeling, and future climate projections to assess risks such as extreme heat, changing precipitation, and rising sea levels. The research also explores urban-scale solutions, including heat mitigation strategies like green infrastructure and cool materials, to enhance outdoor comfort and reduce energy consumption. The finding provide actionable insights for policymakers and urban planners, supporting Qatar’s sustainability goals and climate resilience under the country’s 2030 vision.
