1st international Workshop on Biomimicry: Lessons from Nature for Sustainable Materials Design.

This two-day workshop, part of the Hamad Bin Khalifa University's Horizon Hub Workshop Series (HHWS), is dedicated to establishing a foundation for biomimicry research and education in Qatar, with a special focus on its application in materials science. The event marks the official launch of "Thinqa", a pioneering AI-powered biomimicry platform, as part of QEERI efforts to accelerate prototyping using Biomimicry-AI. In a immersive format, all participants will receive pre-event access to the Thinqa platform and expert-led online training. They will be tasked with developing a project addressing an arid-environment challenge, which they will then fabricate using provided 3D printer facilities. The workshop will feature presentations of this work in the second day, alongside sessions from world-leading researchers, to build a skilled, passionate, and collaborative biomimicry community in Qatar from the ground up.
