Biography
Professor Mustafa Osman Ismail Elamin is an esteemed Sudanese academic, diplomat, and global thought leader whose career spans over four decades across diplomacy, academia, and humanitarian peacebuilding. Currently a professor at the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, he brings a rare combination of scientific rigor and strategic geopolitical insight, holding two doctoral degrees—in Immunological Biochemistry from the University of Bristol (UK) and International Relations from Omdurman Islamic University (Sudan).
Professor Elamin served as Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, where he played a central role in peace negotiations, conflict resolution, and regional diplomacy. He has also held the posts of Presidential Advisor and Minister of Investment, engaging in high-level dialogues across Africa, the Arab world, and the international community.
A prolific author and public intellectual, Professor Elamin has published extensively on topics ranging from Islamic approaches to peace and governance, African political dynamics, strategic leadership, and global responses to Islamophobia. His research and advocacy consistently emphasize intercultural dialogue, humanitarian diplomacy, and sustainable development.
He is a Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR-NCD) and has collaborated with numerous think tanks, academic institutions, and international organizations. His work reflects a profound commitment to shaping a more just, inclusive, and peaceful global order rooted in ethical leadership and regional perspectives.
