Biography
Dr Rami Alfarra is the Environment Research Director and Air Quality Lead at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Hamad bin Khalifa University. He has over two and a half decades of international experience in atmospheric aerosols and their impact on air quality, climate change and human health. Dr Alfarra leads applied research at the interface between science and policymaking focusing on air quality assessment, source attribution of air pollution and their health impacts.
Dr Alfarra completed a PhD degree in atmospheric science at the University of Manchester in the UK in 2004 and received the 2008 Swiss Academy of Sciences Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Award. He is member of the Global Steering Comittee of the WMO's Sand and Dust Storm Warning and Advisory System (SDS-WAS), and a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry Project (IGAC).
