Marwan Khraisheh
Fellow AAAS, Fellow ASME, Member CIRP
Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs
Professor and Chair, Mechanical Engineering
College of Science and Engineering, Hamad Bin Khalifa University
Professor Khraisheh is an academic leader dedicated to advancing higher education and research in the region. In 2008, he returned from the U.S. to become the Founding Dean of Masdar Institute in Abu Dhabi, developed with MIT, where he launched graduate programs in sustainable technologies and recruited over 70 faculty members, many now leading major initiatives across the region. At Qatar Foundation’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University, he led research, innovation, and digital learning portfolios and directed the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, managing 150 researchers on energy, water, and environmental challenges. Recently, he chaired the Mechanical Engineering program at Texas A&M University at Qatar, where he developed programs and infrastructure in smart and sustainable manufacturing. In August 2024, he rejoined HBKU to establish a new mechanical engineering program and oversee faculty affairs. His honors include the US NSF CAREER Award, the Eugene Merchant Award, and elected fellowships with AAAS and ASME.
