Biography
Dr. Haya Alyasi is a researcher specializing in advanced water purification technologies, with expertise in adsorption and photocatalytic processes for emerging contaminant removal. She holds a PhD in Sustainable Environment from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and is currently contributing to research at QEERI, focusing on the development of functional materials for water treatment applications.
Her work primarily involves MXene-based composites and chitosan-derived adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals and pharmaceuticals from water. She has published extensively in high-impact journals, highlighting innovative approaches to sustainable water treatment, material characterization, and process optimization.
Dr. Alyasi was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship (2023-2024) and was accepted into the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute, reflecting her contributions to cutting-edge research in environmental materials. She has presented her research at international conferences, including COP28, ICSEWEN, and the ACS/RSC Regional MENA Conference. In addition to her research, she actively mentors students, supervises PhD projects, and serves as a reviewer and judge for prestigious scientific competitions.
Her ongoing research aims to enhance the efficiency and scalability of novel adsorbents while addressing key challenges such as material stability and fouling resistance in large-scale water treatment systems.
