    Biography

    Dr. Anas Abutaha is a materials scientist with expertise in sustainable energy materials and over ten years of international research and teaching experience in Qatar, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. Since 2020, he has been a Scientist at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where he leads research on thermoelectric materials and thin-film technologies. Alongside his research, he teaches physics and mathematics as a part-time faculty member at the University of Doha for Science and Technology.

    Dr. Abutaha earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2015, focusing on stable thermoelectric materials for high-temperature applications. He previously obtained both his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Jordan, graduating first in his class at each stage. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a Research Scientist at A*STAR’s Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) in Singapore, where his work advanced the understanding of charge transport in conducting polymers and two-dimensional materials.

    His research leadership has attracted significant funding in areas including quantum materials, sustainable thermoelectrics, and resilient sensing systems. He has published widely in leading journals such as Nature Communications, ACS Chemistry of Materials, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and has been recognized with multiple awards, including the MRS Best Oral Presentation Award (2022) and the Dow Sustainability Innovation Award (2014). Dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists, Dr. Abutaha is passionate about developing innovative materials solutions to support a sustainable energy future.
