The HBKU Genomics Core Facility is a state-of-the-art core lab dedicated to advancing genomics research by providing cutting-edge technologies and expertise. Established within HBKU, the facility serves as a vital resource not only for HBKU researchers but also for academia and industry collaborators, driving groundbreaking discoveries in precision medicine and complex biomedical challenges.
Supported by a highly skilled team, the facility provides comprehensive genomic services, including DNA and RNA sequencing, single cell sequencing, and epigenomics. Our mission is to drive innovation and accelerate research by delivering high-quality, reproducible data.

Facility Overview
The HBKU Genomics Core Facility is equipped with advanced technologies, including various Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms, single-cell technology, array platform, capillary sequencing technology, Nanostring nCounter Technology and Digital PCR technology.
Our core services include:
- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS): Whole genome, whole exome, RNA sequencing, and metagenomics for comprehensive genetic and transcriptomic analysis.
- Single-Cell Sequencing: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) for gene expression at the individual cell level and ATAC-seq for chromatin accessibility analysis.
- Epigenomics & Gene Regulation: ChIP-seq for protein-DNA interactions, MeDIP-Seq for DNA methylation analysis, bisulfite sequencing for DNA methylation mapping, and chromatin accessibility assays for insights into gene regulation.
- Genotyping & Microarrays: SNP genotyping for genetic variation, methylation arrays for epigenetic profiling, and gene expression arrays for large-scale gene expression analysis.
- Genetic Analyzer: Sanger sequencing for targeted DNA analysis and STR profiling for forensic and genetic diversity studies.
- Nanostring nCounter Technology: A platform for high-precision gene expression analysis and multiplex biomarker profiling.
- Digital PCR (dPCR): Genotyping, gene expression analysis, and detection of copy number variations with high sensitivity, including from liquid biopsies.
Our facility is committed to supporting cutting-edge research across various fields, including human health, cancer biology, neuroscience, metabolic disorders, and environmental science. We work closely with researchers to optimize experimental designs and ensure high-quality data generation for impactful scientific outcomes.
